Behind the Mic: The Concept

Podcast Notes is a behind the scenes look at what the Idiots say or do that may not make it to the screen or the Spotify playlist. In this week’s post we will talk about the concept that came to be Idiots On A Mic. Initially, we simply believed that we were really funny and everyone would enjoy hearing our conversation, like most mid to late twenties dudes believe. And so the plan begins. Minimal equipment such as some recording software and a simple shotgun microphone placed between the two would take us to stardom, or at least we hoped. The conversation was awkward at first, but with a little liquid courage we got it going rather smoothly. We has no real sense of direction with the show. All we knew was that we wanted to spotlight fun and interesting conversation and make it humorous! After the first few episodes took multiple takes and hours of YouTube download time, we realized this wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Nevertheless we had one goal in mind.... make it big and give back to the communities. As time progressed, the conversation became easier and the marketing part began to bloom. Merchandise and marketing became a real challenge, because neither of us has any design background, marketing experience, or social media presence. We were starting from scratch. Although we have a long way to go yet, we have come a long way from two ding dongs drinking PBR and sitting at the kitchen island while we record. (See Below).
